Vic Mensa Talks to CNN About Solving Chicago's Gang Problems
“You’ve got schools in the same school district, but the black school is getting way less funding per student.”

While Vic Mensa has been relatively quiet on the new music front in 2017, he isn’t slowing down when it comes to social and political activism. Joined by fellow Chicago rapper Lil Durk, the Roc Nation artist sat down with CNN’s United Shades of America to discuss Chicago’s gang violence problems and the solutions that could resolve his hometown’s issues. “I think the solutions have to come down to investing in the communities,” Vic Mensa tells show host W. Kamau Bell. “The schools have lost gym programs. They’ve lost music programs, because there’s no money being put into the schools. You’ve got schools in the same school district, but the black school is getting way less funding per student.”
