The Weeknd Wins Top Hot 100 Artist Billboard Award & Dedicates it to Prince
Last year, Prince handed Abel the award for best soul/R&B album.
The Weeknd won the Top Hot 100 Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday Night. The Canadian crooner beat out Justin Bieber, Drake, Fetty Wap and Taylor Swift. After receiving the trophy, he dedicated the award to Prince, who passed away last month. Last November, Prince gave Abel the award for best soul/R&B album. The Weeknd shares on the incident: “It was the greatest experience of my entire life. I didn’t know him, but he was very close to me, and he will always be an inspiration and help me push the envelope.” Watch the moment below.
