To help celebrate the official launch of its New York City-inspired AM4NYC sneaker, adidas opened up a SPEEDFACTORY Lab Experience in Brooklyn to help spread awareness of its forward-thinking automated facility. The sportswear giant’s latest model to join the AM4 city series closely follows commemorative renditions honoring L.A., London & Paris, and is but the newest sneaker in a line of high-performance trainers produced within the confines of its Atlanta-based SPEEDFACTORY.

The temporary installation provided a grounds for guests to receive private foot scan data to learn more about their own perfect fit, while also taking part in an AM4NYC test run through an interactive media experience.

With the Big Apple’s bustling cityscape in mind, the Three Stripes brand went about crafting a shoe aimed at active city slickers who are more than accustomed to rounding corners, while shifting speeds at the drop of a dime. To achieve this challenging feat, adidas analyzed years of aggregated sport science data in order to streamline a comfy lockdown fit at a minimal weight. The BOOST-enhanced shoe highlights a digital bonding practice — eliminating the need for glue when attaching the upper to the sole, in addition to the Floating Torsion Bar, which effectively balances flexibility and stability for optimal heel to toe transitions.

When asked to comment on the new AM4NYC, Ben Herath, VP Design for adidas Running had this to say:

“The AM4NYC shoe demonstrates the potential of adidas SPEEDFACTORY to set a new benchmark for performance products by using an advanced digital and data-driven processes, and bringing in local runners to be a part of this future of footwear creation.”

Priced at $200 USD, the adidas AM4NYC will make its debut at select adidas stores and online as of April 26.

Keeping with the Three Stripes brand, adidas Originals reveals its utilitarian ATRIC collection for Spring/Summer 2018.
