Lorde’s Melodrama tour kicked off in Chicago last night where the pop princess paid homage to the Windy City by fittingly covering two songs from Chi-Town’s beloved son, Kanye West. During her set, the “Perfect Places” singer performed an acoustic version of “Love Lockdown,” followed by a pop-esque rendition of “Runaway.” Fan-captured footage has since made its rounds on social media and you’ll hear the singer showing her appreciation for both the fans and Mr. West, who she considers an idol. “Thanks Chicago! It must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West,” Lorde tells the audience.

Watch the fan-captured clips down below and revisit her previous ‘Ye cover from Coachella 2017, where she performed an even more intimate rendition of “Runaway.”
