Advent Calendar Day 9: Meguru Yamaguchi 'OUT OF BOUNDS NO.93' Painting
A five-foot-wide sculptural piece that could be yours for the taking.
Meguru Yamaguchi is a Brooklyn-based artist known for his sprawling sculptural paintings of brushstrokes. The Japanese creative calls his signature technique “Cut & Paste.” The unconventional method involves splattering paints on plastic sheets, drying the paint, and then placing the entire artwork onto a three-dimensional surface that gets pre-cut with laser cutting machines. Yamaguchi’s work has been exhibited in international galleries and the artist has collaborated with numerous fashion brands including Issey Miyake, Alife, and UNIQLO.
We teamed up with Meguru Yamaguchi to give one lucky winner an original sculptural painting called OUT OF BOUNDS NO. 93. The work was made using acrylic and epoxy resin on plywood, measuring 61” by 34” inches. The giveaway is part of this year’s Advent Calendar 2018 installment through our art-dedicated Instagram account @HYPEBEASTArt.
The winners of the Advent Calendar will be announced on December 27.
