Jake Gyllenhaal Confirms He's Playing Mysterio in 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'
“I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man.”

After rumors and a few first looks at Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, the actor has finally confirmed he is in fact playing the villain in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home film. Gyllenhaal confirmed the part via his newly started Instagram account. In the post, the Academy Award nominated actor can be seen reading Amazing Spider-Man #311: The Return of the Man Called Mysterio! which is captioned, “I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man.”
Acting as a sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home is slated for a July 5, 2019 release. The film’s first trailer is expected to drop on Saturday during the Brazil Comic Con. Along with Tom Holland and Gyllenhaal, Spider-Man: Far From Home will also star Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, and Zendaya.
