9 Drops You Don't Want to Miss This Week

This week’s list of weekly product drops sees a resurgence in smaller independent labels. While many releases come in the form of T-shirts, hoodies, and long-sleeves — as seen in Answer in Past Life‘s Tokyo introduction collection, Babylon LA‘s FW18 collection, and The Trilogy Tapes‘ post-hiatus collection — the likes of WACKO MARIA, and Gucci x Dover Street Market differentiate themselves with an abundance of heavier (and more expensive) outerwear pieces.

Next up, Kanye West and Kid Cudi enlist Cynthia Lu of Cactus Plant Flea Market for a number of graphics to incorporate into their Kids See Ghosts merch. Down for a good cause, Cherry LA has released a special tee where all proceeds will be given to the families that were impacted by the Malibu fires; this shirt will remain on sale until Friday.

Key items this week include the restock of the Nike Nigeria Nation Football Team jersey, the WOLF’ S HEAD x WACKO MARIA leather jacket, the Kids See Ghosts FREEEE hoodie, and the Gucci x DSM Mahogany Long Coat. Supreme looks to level up on the accessories side come this Thursday when the streetwear imprint finally releases the hotly-anticipated Tamiya Hornet RC car. In addition to this fun drop, fans can also expect some of the reliable usuals — branded jackets, sweats, hats, headbands, bags and more. Some standouts are the patchwork corduroy jackets, Polartec sweatshirts and floral-themed tee. Those looking to add to their skate deck collection can expect the Cat in the Hat boards to rollout as well.

After a brief hiatus, The Trilogy Tapes recently returned with a new range of graphic-emblazoned garment offerings. This time around, the London-based record label touched on some of its previous offerings and put together some new streetwear items. Designs found on the long sleeve T-shirts are dressed with graphics that draw from a range of enigmatic references, while the rest of the hoodies, polos and T-shirts sport an array of takes on The Trilogy Tapes’ signature TTT design.

Emerging streetwear label Answer in Past Life (AIPL) is officially launching this week in Tokyo, Japan. The label is helmed by NYC-based logo designer Ari Saal Forman and features a handful of graphic pieces, including hoodies, coach jackets, T-shirts, caps, wristbands and lighters. The first AIPL drop will release via a pop-up store in Idea by Sosu in Omotesando Hills, running from November 17 to 25.

Continuing its series of exclusive releases, Dover Street Market recently dropped a special new range from Gucci. The release features everything from checked outerwear pieces to Christmas-ready accessories, including a reindeer-print beanie. Throughout the collection, expert use of striking embroidery is utilized to express special Gucci and DSM branding as well as images of animals and floral patterns. Other notable items include pieces from Gucci’s ongoing work with Elton John as well as vintage-style shirting, formal jackets and jacquard tracksuits.

Immediately after their Camp Flog Gnaw 2018 set, Kanye West and Kid Cudi dropped Kids See Ghosts merch made specifically to commemorate the festival. Designed by Cynthia Lu of Cactus Plant Flea Market, the special release is centered around the spiritual themes of the powerhouse collaborative album and Earthy washed tones. Loud text flourishes and bold graphical motifs are utilized throughout the range that’s comprised of a hooded jacket, hoodies, crewneck sweaters and T-shirts.

Coming back for Fall/Winter 2018, Babylon LA recently released its latest seasonal collection with a lookbook shot in South Africa. Utilizing the distinct landscape of the country, the photo set blends the uniqueness of the area with the authenticity of the Southern California label’s skating roots. The FW18 range is comprised of tie-dye T-shirts dressed with bold graphics, a mineral washed long-sleeve tee, an all-over print hoodie constructed with 21 oz. cotton and embroidered caps.

This time around, the duo put together a range centered around a colorful graphic of a pitchfork-wielding skull and atom bombs. Outerwear dominates the collaborative range, as offerings span from fleece collar coaches jackets to hefty leathers, offered in a small variety of muted hues.
