Timberland Celebrate 45 Years of the Iconic Yellow Boot with Collaborative Campaign
The original yellow boot.
Timberland have designed a commemorative collection and campaign for Fall/Winter 2018 to celebrate 45 years of the iconic Yellow Boot. The Yellow Boot was the first waterproof leather boot, initially crafted for working men throughout the northeastern United States, and within a decade, became one of the fastest selling boots in the world, spreading to the Italian and Chinese markets and building cult followings internationally. By the 1990s, the boot became a staple in the hip-hop community, making Timberland a brand that is strongly linked with music and streetwear culture.
The ”Celebrate the Icons” campaign celebrates the culture behind the lug sole boot. As the brand’s first-ever community-generated campaign, in collaboration with social photography platform Unsplash, the campaign is a collection of imagery taken by eight photographers from around the world in their respective cities. Each image encapsulates what the Timberland heritage means to them, taken through their creative lens and visual aesthetic.
The special collection boot is reimagined with sapphire highlights and includes premium details such as a distinctive hang tag, two-tone yellow and sapphire laces, and a tongue that is embossed with the 45th anniversary logo. The outdoor lug sole’s transition from workwear to timeless fashion item have made Timberland a key accessory on a global level. Even through a global lens, the shoe’s Yankee ingenuity shines through today.
