It looks like 2019 will be the year of nostalgic remakes. Netflix has just announced that it’s adapting Roald Dahl‘s classic novels into an original animated series. The upcoming series will be based on the acclaimed author’s best selling stories, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits and many more.

“Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories,” said Roald Dahl’s widow, Felicity Dahl. “This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled.”

Production for Netflix’s Roald Dahl animated series commences in 2019. Take a look at the first teaser above and share your thoughts in the comments.

For more nostalgic returns, Disney released the first teaser trailer for The Lion King remake.
