Earlier this week, it was reported that Martin Shkreli — villainous ex-pharmaceutical CEO who hiked up the price of a life-saving drug Daraprim from $13.50 USD a pill to $750 USD — sold his “one of a kind” Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin for a cool $1 million USD on eBay. The musical artifact clocked in a total of 343 bids and sold for about half the price Shkreli originally bought the album for two years ago.

However, Wu-Tang affiliate and collaborator Matt “M-Eighty” Markoff told HipHopDX that Shkreli’s sale is reportedly “bogus,” not only due to Shkreli’s jailing but also because “there is doubt the qualified [buyer] who has the requisite funds, meets sellers’ specific deadlines, and is a real candidate versus a friend of the seller who may have intentionally bid up the auction in hopes of reaching a greater sales potential.”

Markoff furthermore states that the winning bid on the eBay auction hasn’t been followed through with a payment to Shkreli’s attorneys and that the album is apparently still up for sale. “Coupled with the fact I was not sent the original purchase docs for review from Martin, and most recently from his counsel who informed me as of [September 19] that the album is still available for sale,” Markoff stated.

Sound off in the comments below and for more peculiar music news, Suge Knight believes Tupac is still alive.
