The Infamous Supreme Brick Gets Encased in a Louis Vuitton Cube

Last year, Supreme released an embossed box logo brick that, although is neither wearable nor useful, sold out instantly. The tongue-in-cheek cement block signaled the power of logos and the loyalty of streetwear stans. This year, the Supreme x Louis Vuitton collaboration collection marked another degree of brand allegiance, fusing one of the most recognized luxury menswear labels and its signature LV monogram with the most iconic streetwear brand.

As expected, the collection sold out instantly worldwide, so much so that the collaboration’s scheduled North American releases were first canceled, and then postponed.

In light of these events and as a nod to the fusion of streetwear and luxury, Doug Schwartz has taken the Supreme brick and encased it in a Louis Vuitton monogrammed cube. The piece “confronts our collective hypnosis and seduction with material objects in relationship to how fashion continually reinvents itself at an exponential pace.”
