Jordan Brand Just Signed Its First Chinese Basketball Player
Guo Ailun joins Russell Westbrook, Kahwi Leonard and Chris Paul.

Jordan Brand has signed Guo Ailun, the sportswear giant’s first Chinese basketball player. In addition to joining the label’s roster which includes NBA superstars Russell Westbrook, Kahwi Leonard and Chris Paul, the 23-year-old athlete will also receive a $1.4 million USD annually in sponsorship fees. Previously, Guo was signed to Chinese sportswear brand Li-Ning, who was paying him $1.1 million USD per year. At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the budding point guard averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 assists per game.
In terms of appeal in the country, Guo is one of China’s most popular basketball players — he has 1.6 million followers on Sina Weibo, a Twitter type platform for China. Jordan Brand will be announcing the signing sometime today, May 10.
