FILA & Akomplice Pay Homage to the Yucatan of Mexico

FILA recently aligned with streetwear label Akomplice to rework the classic Original Fitness silhouette. In a move that respectfully pays homage to the Yucatan region of Mexico, each aspect of the shoe’s design draws inspiration from the picturesque surroundings of the area’s locality. For instance, the light green tint found on the insole, tongue tag and heel represent the foliage indicative of the Caribbean Sea’s open waters. The hits of purple depict the ocean coral and tropical fruit native to the area, while the light brown symbolizes the sand and limestone of which the region was founded. The collaborative design will make its debut on Cinco de Mayo through Akomplice’s web store.
