032C's Joerg & Maria Koch Transformed a Magazine Into a Streetwear Brand
The Berlin-based pair talk shop with Slam Jam Socialism.

Slam Jam Socialism connects with forward-thinking Berlin media outlet and brand 032C for a new feature. Established in 2001 as a progressive fashion magazine, 032C completed the final stage of brand transition earlier this year, having pulled off a Slam Jam-hosted Milan showcase back in February. While the evolution from magazine to streetwear manufacturer is rare, 032C is a brand on a mission. Still riding high from the Motocross Capsule Collection debut, 032C’s editor-in-chief Joerg Koch and designer Maria Koch decided to talk about the company’ beginnings, development, Berlin, success and more with Slam Jam’s crew.
“The thing about 032c is that we’ve always wanted to create a strong identity, even when we started out small. Probably back then we didn’t talk about creating a brand, but essentially we’ve always been driven by the idea of creating a platform, something iconic,” Joerg Koch tells Slam Jam. Judging by the Kochs’ satisfaction with their creation, it sounds like 032C is on the right path as well.”We could be obviously much more successful, but we are happy. Success in a much bigger sense, which is what we’re interested in, is having a bigger impact on culture, being culturally relevant, that’s probably the true sense of success for us,” Joerg Koch explains, summing up the goals of his brand.
