LA Galaxy Is Prepared to Make Zlatan Ibrahimovic the Highest Paid Player in MLS
Not unless Man Utd has something to say about it.
The LA Galaxy have told Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic that they are prepared to make him the highest paid player in Major League Soccer history if he opts to join them later this summer, according to BBC. The 35-year-old signed a one-year contract with United in 2016, with the option for an extension based on his performance. He has since scored 26 goals this season, proving to be a valuable asset for the club, despite his old age.
The Galaxy – winners of three out of the last six MLS titles — paid former England midfielder and recently-retired Steven Gerrard $6.1 million USD last season, so they surely have the cap space. Sources even told BBC that the American club believes Ibrahimovic can have the same impact on soccer in the United States as David Beckham did when he joined the club from Real Madrid in 2007.
Man Utd is slated to play FC Rostov this Thursday, however Zlatan will be serving the first of a three game suspension for elbowing Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings this past Saturday.
