'The Fate of the Furious' Highlights Charlize Theron's Story in New Preview
A blend of high tech terrorist and vehicular warfare specialist.
After showing us Dom’s betrayal to the Fast family in its first trailer, the second preview for The Fate of the Furious shows us the woman behind the betrayal – Cipher, played by Charlize Theron. The antagonist in the eighth installment of the beloved franchise is portrayed as a high-tech terrorist who hacks into cars and uses them in a vehicular warfare fashion, think along the lines of Owen Shaw from Fast & Furious 6, but with autonomous vehicles. We also find out from the three-minute clip that Cipher has crossed paths with Dom in London, Abu Dhabi and Cuba. As expected, the rest of the trailer gives us lots of explosions, cool cars, a tank, a submarine, and a witty exchange between Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs) and Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw). We also know that the album tracklist for The Fate of the Furious will be a banger with a star-studded lineup including Travis Scott, Migos, Young Thug, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Yatchy and Kehlani to name a few.
