Band of Outsiders Announces Collaborations With Stutterheim and Woolmark
As well as a presentation on ice.

Having returned from the wilderness with its Fall/Winter 2017 collection, cult label Band of Outsiders has unveiled plans for its Fall/Winter 2018 release. The collection is set to be unveiled at London Fashion Week: Men’s, where the brand will take over the ice rink at Somerset House for a presentation it describes as “Soul Train on ice.” The presentation will continue Band of Outsiders tradition of surprising shows, with the brand presenting its last collection with a comedy show.
This season’s collection will also see Band of Outsiders release a string of collaborations. These joint projects include work with Swedish outerwear brand Stutterheim, a lightweight capsule with PackMack and a continued knitwear collaboration with The Woolmark Company.
To mark the announcement, we caught up with Band of Outsiders’ head designer Angelo Van Mol to discuss the unconventional show setting and what to expect from this season’s collection. Read the interview below, and check out the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection which was revealed earlier this year.
Why did you want to show on the ice rink?
The FW18 collection is inspired by winter sports and ski-resorts. We wanted to continue the Band of Outsiders tradition of creating a fun experience with new presentation concepts. We fell in love with the idea of ice rinks, skaters and the general vibe surrounding this winter-y activity. Of course, we also have a soft spot for the apres-ski parties. We were really happy to be able to work with Somerset House on this – it all came together like a puzzle!
Can you reveal what the show will be like?
This season’s presentation will be a fashion show on ice, with the clothes being presented by hand-picked talented ice-skaters.
What can you do in this show that couldn’t be achieved in prior presentations?
Last season was all about the spirit of the brand, embracing humour and authenticity. This season, we are able to focus more on show-casing the collection and the clothes, because we can show more looks on more people.
How did the collaborations come around?
The team has always been a fan of Stutterheim and so we reached out to them, which led to a great product combining our FW18 prints and their famous rain-coats. Another collaboration we did this season was with PackMack, who make amazing lightweight breathable jackets – a perfect addition to our collection. To ensure the highest quality for our knitwear, we collaborated with The Woolmark Company, who introduced us to their sourcing tool The Wool Lab featuring some of the best Merino wool yarns in the world
