At the beginning of the year, renowned automobile enthusiast and collector Arthur Kar revealed plans to take his approach to the car industry and employ it in the streetwear world. Taking inspiration from his luxury car dealership L’art de L’automobile, Kar launched his own clothing label, using the same name as the aforementioned shop. Since then, Kar has jumpstarted his new brand’s dive into fashion, collaborating with popular Parisian boutique colette, Broken Arm and more. Now, after unveiling a T-shirt tribute to his favorite restaurant Jon & Vinny’s, Kar serves up another new “KAR RACING DOUBLE HOOD” hoodie.

Introduced and promoted via a special new visual, the KAR RACING DOUBLE HOOD sweatshirt continues the car-related themes and aesthetic presented by previous Kar clothing drops. However, don’t expect too much over-the-top prints with this one; keeping things minimal, Kar designs a straightforward, simple black hooded sweatshirt with a white “L’art de L’automobile” label. In a statement, the brand shares the following mission statement concerning this latest drop:

AUTOMOBILES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A MAJOR PART OF OUR SOCIETY. EVERYONE HAS A STORY THEY LIKE TO TELL, A TRIP, A CAR, A DETAIL, A SMELL, A ROADSIDE BILLBOARDS, A PARTICULAR GAS STATION AND EVEN A BREAKDOWN… YET NO ONE HAS TRANSCRIBES THESE MEMORIES AND EXPERIENCES INTO AN AESTHETIC OUT OF THE CAR INDUSTRY.

THIS IS PRECISELY WHAT ARTHUR KAR AND HIS CREATIVE TEAM ARE DOING AT KAR. COMBINING THEIR STRONG KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE ARTS & FASHION, AND THE REKNOWN YET SECRETIVE WORLD OF L’ART DE L’AUTOMOBILE, TO CREATE FUNDAMENTAL AND CONCEPTUAL GARMENTS.

FINDING BALANCE BETWEEN HIGH END TAILORING AND DESIGN, THE INFLUENCE OF STREET CULTURE, AND ENVIRONMENT TOO OFTEN RESERVED TO CAR AFICIONADOS, SUCH IS THE AMBITION OF KAR.
