Aleali May’s Air Jordan 1 silhouette, a nod to ’90s fashion and the noticeable aesthetics of that time, officially hit select stores across the world this past weekend. To mark the arrival of May’s design, Jordan Brand linked up with UNDEFEATED to revamp the Los Angeles boutique into a “90s-era flea-market style pop up” littered with vintage tees, neon signs and hip-hop vinyl records.
May, a South Central local who grew up surrounded by L.A. fashion and garments, designed her Air Jordan 1 as an homage to her family and surrounding sneaker culture. The luxe silhouette is the first Air Jordan shoe fit for both men and women — created by a female designer. The shoe impresses with a monochrome corduroy upper — consisting of black and metallic grey, with a white midsole and metallic grey outsole. Staying with Jordan Brand and L.A., the new Air Jordan 9 is taking inspiration from Los Angeles, the host city for NBA All-Star Weekend 2018.
