But can you afford the initial cost, is the question? Way back in 1962, Super Bowl I ticket prices averaged around $12 USD, while a 30-second TV spot to be aired during the game averaged $42,000 USD. Fast forward to Sunday’s Super Bowl LI between the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots, and the average costs have jumped to $1,825 USD and $5 million USD, respectively. Costs have also soared over the last 50 years for teams and cities as well, including player payroll and the stadium’s operating expenses.
