Paris-born, New York-educated and Tokyo-based menswear designer Julien David showed his Fall/Winter 2017 collection at Paris Fashion Week today. This season’s theme looks through the lens of classic English aesthetics and styles throughout history. The collection’s opening takes cues from flight gear and service uniforms as seen in the appearance of aviator hats and body harnesses, and the heavy use of sable browns and army greens. Other rich British motifs appear by way of royal blue velvet, Victorian era sleeves and collar ruffs, vibrant Gingham prints and paddington duffle coats. Fine tailoring and a composed command of color and textiles show the renowned designer’s attention to detail and ability to move between streetwear inspirations and high-fashion standards.
