Gosha Rubchinskiy and adidas Football Join Forces on a Multi-Season Project
Unveiled at the label’s 2017 fall/winter show in Kaliningrad, Russia.

Gosha Rubchinskiy and adidas Football have joined forces on a multi-season range which made its debut during the label’s 2017 fall/winter runway show in Kaliningrad, Russia. According to Business of Fashion, the extensive project will consist of three seasons with the adidas-sponsored 2018 World Cup marking the end of the partnership. Accompanying the collaborative apparel are a slew of events and supplemental products, as well as two showcases which will take place in Russian cities during the World Cup. COMME des GARÇONS CEO Adrian Joffe, who oversees the high-end label, professed to BoF: “It’s early stages, so we’re not sure yet. There will be a book. There might also be a capsule collection with the World Cup. The big event will be with the World Cup.”
Rubchinskiy hopes that this large-scale initiative will propel a more atypical and modern assemblage of the die-hard Russian football fan. As a whole, the series will implement more unconventional takes on sportswear pieces that span coats, jerseys, track pants, hoodies, sneakers and eclectic accessories that are emblazoned in Cyrillic script. “I wanted to mix it with Gosha items. In Moscow, I walk around my area and see young guys coming back from a football game and they are still wearing sports pants but with a coat,” said the designer.
