Opening Ceremony Revisits Iconic Esprit Designs for 2016 Fall

Established by Susie Buell and Doug Tompkins in the late 1960s, Esprit went onto become one of the industry’s most iconic and influential brands in the following decades. Built upon a strong sense of community, the label’s immersive store designs and extensive collaborations helped lay the foundations of the modern-day brand, while at the same time promoting social consciousness through its various platforms. Opening Ceremony founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon were both heavily influenced by the Northern California-based line throughout the ’80s and ’90s, so much so, the duo have joined forces with the brand in an effort to share the same ideals with the next generation. Applying innovative fabrics to graphic tees, cozy outerwear, athletic-inspired staples and heavily-branded gear, OC aims to capture the same original Esprit energy in its latest collaboration.
