Learn How to Make Traditional Whole Wheat Udon With a Michelin-Starred Chef
Entirely handcrafted in Japan.
For Eater’s latest installment of The Meat Show, host Nick Solares invited Michelin-starred chef Cris Jaeckle to help him prepare traditional whole wheat udon. Jaeckle has profound knowledge in making pasta at All’Onda and conjuring Japanese recipes at Uma Temakeria in New York City. The duo traveled to the city of Takamatsu in Japan to get a lesson from an instructor at Sanuki Menyo — touted as “a facility in the ‘udon capital’ of Japan where employees have been hand-crafting noodles for over 90 years,” the website reports. The informative five-minute clip shows the pair taking on the quintessential Japanese cuisine from start to finish.
