Carhartt’s fashion and lifestyle-forward WIP brand finds itself at home in Japan having worked with some of the Far East’s top designers, including NEIGHBORHOOD, mastermind JAPAN and Junya Watanabe during its history. Continuing to pay tribute to one of the world’s most cult fashion destinations, Carhartt WIP went for a night out in Tokyo to shoot its fall 2016 lookbook. The “Tale of Tokyo Wanderers” photoset showcases two new capsule collections from the upcoming season: the Carhartt Athletics and Cart Racing.
The Carhartt Athletics line features clean renditions of ’90s athletic staples like Yale style bold prints Carhartt and 89, paying tribute to the foundation year of Carhartt at 1889,and Carhartt WIP at 1989, with a collection of sweatshirts, sweat pants and T-shirts. Offering just a touch of chenille patch and prominent stitching, yellow and red prints help the range stand out during the cold-weather months.
In contrast, the Cart Racing line, which encompasses everything from light-weighted jacket, sweatshirt and T-shirts to a backpack, ditches the color and goes more graphic with a bold monochromatic checkered flag print. Used as accents on sleeves, hoods and pockets, the racing-themed prints are also available in reflective iterations which are perfect for late night skating or biking.
Check out the lookbook above and expect the collections to drop at select Carhartt WIP stockists around Asia in September, and Europe in October.
