37 Hospitalized at Country Concert in Pittsburgh

Back in 2013, there were over 70 arrests, brawls and 30 tins of trash left at a Kenny Chesney concert in Pittsburgh’s PNC Park. On Saturday, the country star returned to the city for another one, and although the casualties were less serious this time, the concert still left 37 people hospitalized as well as a handful of arrests. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that although arrests, hospitalizations and littering happened, Pittsburgh chief operations officer Guy Costa said that the city was “very pleased” with their response to the gig due to “superb inter-agency cooperation” — the collaboration between city police, public works, emergency medical responders, sheriff’s deputies and other county personnel. Fortunately by Sunday morning, the majority of the waste had been cleared. The Pittsburgh public safety director notes that of the 37 people who needed medical attention, none were in serious condition — “over-intoxication and dehydration” was the main culprit. Some, understandably, were quite displeased with the situation. A Chesney fan exclaims: “I have never seen this amount of trash, ever. What are we, savages?”
