Neil Barrett's Spring 2017 Collection Draws Design Cues From Vintage American TV Shows
Starsky & Hutch? Knight Rider? What shows do you think he watched growing up?
Admittedly revealing that inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2017 collection stemmed from garb worn in the American TV shows he fondly watched as a child growing up in the UK, Neil Barrett took to the stage in Milan to present his impending warm weather offering. Leaning heavily on a color palette of browns, oranges and blues, Barrett harmoniously incorporated elements of military, sports and workwear — further validating its timelessness in fashion’s evolutionary landscape. Army-influenced button-downs, bombers, chore coats, and crewnecks flowed seemingly alongside gartered trousers and sneaker options, with accessory accents like knit graphics and wide framed sunglasses providing a subtle salute to vintage styling sensibilities of the late ’70s and early ’80s.
