This Photo Series Evokes the Spirit of the Early Revolutionary Skating Days
Honoring the rich history of the Venice Skate Park.
Louis Lepron shares impressions from his second trip to Los Angeles in his latest photo series dedicated to the Venice Skate Park in Venice Beach. Equipped with his analog camera, the Parisian photographer returned to the “temple of skateboarding” to pay homage to Venice’s unique skateboarding history and heritage.
Hailed as the birthplace of modern skateboarding, Venice was the nourishing ground for skating legends Tony Alva, Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta, three of the original Z-Boys, and more during the 1970s skateboarding wave. Venice honors its skateboarding history as a physical fixture of the beach community with the skate park, which opened in October 2009. Lepron’s photography beautifully evokes the spirit of the early revolutionary skating days. Head over here to see the entire series.
