This Is How Siam Discovery in Bangkok, Thailand Is Revitalizing the Whole Retail Experience
We follow Tim Wong from QUEST Terrarium as he explores the new conceptual space.
As the retail market evolves at a fast pace, physical stores continue to think of new strategies to combat the ongoing changes. At the forefront of fresh concepts is Siam Discovery; a brand-new, retail utopia with design consultation by nendo in Bangkok, Thailand which revamps the habitual shopping trip into an all-encompassing experience. Prestigious labels such as COMME des GARÇONS, Issey Miyake, Rimowa, as well as local brands like gingko, are examples of the impeccable curation, yet installations and activations provide ground for different types of creativity; highlighting talents from the categories of art, music and food. Incorporating technology in its showcase, “My IG Wall” is an installation which allows shoppers to share their Instagram accounts on a plasma-filled wall, transporting one’s digital social media life back into the physical sphere. Amongst the retailers include Loft, which carries Bearbricks and other Japanese delights, as well as Cazh, an East-meets-West hub which stocks Thai streetwear brands and vintage Americana garments. As part of its expansive lifestyle category, level three provides the ultimate homeware and general goods selection, one as far-ranging as live terrariums to experimental coffee shops. From the ground up, an exceptional area consisting of a multitude of brands around the world cater to female shoppers. Lastly, exclusive products and customized goods from the list of boutiques will ensure each visit to be truly unique. In essence, Siam Discovery is the one-stop lifestyle destination to revive and be inspired.
For the launch of the special occasion, Siam Discovery introduced “Explorer Day,” where creatives of various disciplines congregated to experience the activations. In this segment, we followed Tim from QUEST Terrarium as he explores the gigantic space before setting his eyes on the good folks at Tiny Tree Garden. With both sides sharing a passion for ornamental art, the meeting quickly turned into an impromptus terrarium-making project.
