It’s been more than 250 years since the Hennessy clan created the Jas Hennessy & Co. cognac maison, whose legacy continues to be run to this day by the Fillioux family. Just last week, seventh generation master blender Yann Fillioux handed the keys of the Hennessy cellar to his nephew, Renaud Fillioux. To celebrate, the house is debuting a commemorative Hennessy 8 cognac, a special blend encased in a limited edition bottle created by Paris-based Israeli artist and designer, Arik Levy.
Designed together with Baccarat‘s fine crystals, Levy imagined an impressive 60kg carafe made from the raw materials associated with making cognac. Made up of eight crystal rings that loop around the whole bottle, the carafe is packaged within a real oak case made from Hennessy’s authentic cooperage and detailed with copper inlays as a nod to the metal tools used during the distilling process. The cognac itself is made from eight eaux-de-vie, seven of which were brewed by Yann, and the remaining by new master blender Renaud.
With only 250 bottles made, the limited edition Arik Levy x Hennessy 8 can be yours for a hefty €35,000 EUR (approximately 38,540 USD).
