Patagonia Teams With Hopworks Urban Brewery for the First-Ever Beer Made From Kernza
“Saving the planet, one beer at a time.”

Outdoor sporting goods giant Patagonia is entering the world of craft beer with its latest Provisions release, joining forces with Hopworks Urban Brewery to create Long Root Ale — the first-ever beer to be brewed with Kernza, “a perennial grain grown using regenerative agriculture practices.” The result is not only eco-conscious — regenerative agriculture “restores soil biodiversity, sequesters carbon, and efficiently grows crops without chemical fertilizers or pesticides” — but tastes good, too, and has a grapefruit hop flavor thanks to organic two-row barley, organic yeast, organic Chinook, Mosaic and Crystal hops and the aforementioned Kernza.
Malty with a dry, crisp finish, Long Root Ale is available now at select Whole Foods locations throughout California and at The Perennial Restaurant & Bar in San Francisco.
