Facebook Rolls out Marketplace for Buying and Selling Goods With Those Nearby

Mark Zuckerberg’s mission of “connecting the world” continues with Facebook’s newest feature called Marketplace. While you can already buy and sell goods through certain Facebook groups (i.e. Supreme and Raf Simons resell pages), the social media platform is now making things a bit more streamlined for those wanting a quicker way of acquiring and selling items, especially with those nearby.

Basically, once you open Marketplace, you can see a selection of items people near you are selling. If you want to find something more specific to your needs, you can just search it by location, category and price. Once you’ve checked the details and are interested in buying, you can send an offer to the other user and take it from there. A warning however: “Facebook does not facilitate the payment or delivery of items in Marketplace.”

As for selling, simply take a photo, add to the “Marketplace” with the proper details, and confirm your location. The buying and selling features are quite simple for anyone to use. Marketplace is also set to replace Messenger on Facebook’s app and will roll out to everyone over 18 years old in the U.S., UK, Australia, and New Zealand for the iPhone and Android first. Other countries will follow suit, as well as a desktop version coming soon. Let us know in the comments if Marketplace is something you would use in terms of selling sneakers or other goods.
