Monocle Looks Back at the Trends From Pitti Uomo 89
Find out what’s next for the menswear market.
Lifestyle media company Monocle takes a look at this year’s recent Pitti Uomo to report on what’s next in menswear for Fall/Winter 2016. Pitti Uomo, the Florence-based event arguably considered to be the leading trade fair for men’s clothing and accessories, often sets the tone for forecasting trends across an international scale. Lars Braun, of BRAUN Hamburg, mentioned that buyers have become more hybrid than ever, making purchases ranging from inexpensive sweaters to cashmere coats costing over $5,000 USD. Pitti’s preeminent position in the fashion world also includes its ability to attract foreign clientele. UNITED ARROWS did double duty as an exhibitor and retailer, as global buyers gravitated toward the brand for a general pulse on Japanese fashion. Creative Director Yasuto Kamoshita explained how he looked to Pitti to discover new fabrics and high-quality craftsmanship from Italian manufacturers. Bespoke orders were also a recurring topic within conversations as boutique owners were seeking ways to compete with online retailers.
