adidas Originals Tubular 2015 Fall/Winter "Concrete Maze" Editorial
2015 fall/winter Tubular Runner and Tubular Moc Runner set against Shanghai’s defunct slaughterhouse, 1933.
Upon its unveiling in Fall 2014, the adidas Originals Tubular Runner became an instant classic. Incorporating distinct elements from the Herzogenaurach sporting giant’s replete archive, the sneaker pays homage to adidas’ DNA, pushing the boundaries of sneaker design with its unique fit and form. A distinctive Tubular sole unit — first seen in the initial Tubular design released in ’93 — is complemented with a ghuilly lacing system offering a progressive riff. Led by adidas Originals’ Creative Director Nic Galway and his innovative team at the Three Stripes, the aim was to create an unmistakable silhouette that would provide the base for myriad of adaptations. For Fall/Winter 2015, we see just that, as adidas Originals plucks from both traditional and advanced materials in the construction of diverse range including the latest iteration, the Tubular X. The editorial above takes place in Shanghai’s 1933, the maze of concrete slabs which was originally built as a slaughterhouse but served many purposes over the years (including a cold storage facility, medicine factory, and creative hub). With four stories of tangled passages as a backdrop, we get a glimpse at the latest colorways of the Tubular Runner and Tubular Moc Runner.
