This week, we give coffee a break to shed some light on a healthier alternative that many New Yorkers are switching to – matcha. Known to boost metabolism, matcha is made from 100% green tea leaf, amounting to a more concentrated dose of health-benefiting properties, and making it rich in antioxidants. Joined by David and Jessica of New York’s PANATEA, we are walked through a traditional tea ceremony at Globus Washitsu, where we sample PANATEA’s Nishio-farmed, ceremonial grade matcha.
As matcha is not only for drinking, we also hit the streets to see how some of the local businesses like Honeyhaus, Grassroots Juicery, Egg Shop and Maman Cafe are incorporating matcha onto their menus, while getting some great tips and recipes.
