It seems as if SoundCloud is looking to change things up to its beloved music hosting platform. A leaked contract shows that the music-streaming site is looking to pay music labels so their music can stay on the site. Currently, licensed music is continually pulled off SoundCloud due to royalty issues. The contract also shows that the site is looking for advertisers as a steadier stream of revenue with paid ads. With that being said, the service is also introducing a two-tier subscription plan, which includes an ad-free option. Named “Additional Services,” the first tier would allow the user to consume audio and visual content ad-free, as well as limited downloading. The highest level of subscription is the “SoundCloud Full Subscription Service,” which will allow the user a wider selection of content. Head over to HYPETRAK to see the entire contract as well as more information regarding this impending change.
