Kanye West has been booked to headline Glastonbury Festival alongside Florence and the Machine and The Who. Following the announcement of the headliners, an online petition calling for Ye to be replaced by a rock group garnered over 133,000 signatures.
In a conversation with Q, West called the petition “an insult to music fans all over the world.”
Rightfully, in the video below Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl points out “every one of those votes is only fueling Kanye’s fucking fire and it could be the greatest show of all time. It could be a fucking disaster.” He later says, “it’s exciting man.”
And of course, from the festival itself, Glastonbury organizer, Emily Eavis spoke on what she expects from Kanye’s performance to Digital Spy saying ”I think he’ll create an incredible show. What he’s talking about at the moment is very exciting. I think he’s going to take it big.”
So much for those 133,000 plus names. The show will go on and Kanye will headline tomorrow night, Saturday, June 27, between Florence and the Machine this evening and The Who on Sunday.
