Designer and movie director Tom Ford has sold his upcoming film Nocturnal Animals to Universal Studios for $20 million USD, the highest price paid for a film so far this year at the Cannes Film Festival. Even though George Clooney had dropped out of the film earlier amid rumors of a falling out, the film now stars Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal. Nocturnal Animals is based off of Austin Wright’s 1993 novel Tony and Susan, with the film adaptation written by Ford himself. Susan (played by Adams) becomes engrossed in a book manuscript her ex-husband wrote which depicts his family vacation that went astray with violence. Susan then discovers some truths about herself and her previous marriage. The film is slated for release in 2017.
