The State of California Honors Kendrick Lamar With the Generational Icon Award

The State of California has honored Kendrick Lamar with the Generational Icon Award. Taking to the floor of the California State Senate, Senator and fellow Compton-native Isadore Hall III introduces the assembly to not only Kendrick’s musical accomplishments but also his dedication to give back to the Compton community. Speaking on Kendrick’s commitment to after-school programs, sports programs and musical programs within the Compton Unified School District, Senator Hall III turns the podium over to Kendrick to the applause of the California State Senate assembly. In his brief yet honest speech, Kendrick relays his message to keep Compton kids off the streets and in the classrooms and thanks the state of California for the timeless honor. Enjoy the clip above.
