As part of its efforts on environmental conservation, Patagonia has released short film “Defined by the Line.” Depicted is veteran climber Josh Ewing, who began visiting the Bears Ears region of Southeastern Utah to climb the picturesque fiery-red cliffs of Indian Creek and explore the local archaeology. Later relocating to the nearby town of Bluff, it was only then that Ewing realized the full extent of the threat posed to the natural surroundings by oil drilling operations, looting, and careless visitors — a realization that spurred him to take action and launch the #ProtectBearsEars petition to save this cherished corner of Utah. As part of Patagonia’s The New Localism campaign, watch the full 7-minute film and sign the petition by clicking here.
