The relationship between fashion and hip-hop has been well-observed rhetorically, but in terms of documentaries, the coverage is less thorough. The latest from culture-chronicling director Sacha Jenkins aims to change that, with the filmmaker tapping hip-hop’s brightest of past and present for Fresh Dressed. Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Nas star alongside the likes of Diddy, Damon Dash and Big Daddy Kane to create a collaborative tale of hip-hop’s revision of old-school modes – be they design flips or business models. Of particular note, Nas not only starred in, but produced this important piece of fashion and music chronology alongside Peter Bittenbender and Marcus A. Clarke. The film is available for pre-order now and releases to Vimeo On Demand on June 26.
