HYPEBEAST Eats... Boomshack Hong Kong
Spearheaded by creative director Austin Fry, American restaurant Boomshack brings a blend

Spearheaded by creative director Austin Fry, American restaurant Boomshack brings a blend of gourmet Mexican cuisine and American fast food philosophy to Hong Kong’s dynamic and ever-growing dining scene. Specially curated to not overwhelm its customers with choice, Boomshack’s menu is comprised of a delectable choice of fusion grub. Burger patties are made of house ground beef and are simply seasoned, just enough for you to experience the full flavor of the beef when you sink your teeth into each burger. The restaurant carefully oversees the culinary process from start the finish, as the burger’s fluffy potato buns are made from Boomshack’s own unique blend of potato starch and wheat flour.
Here we highlight three noteworthy platters. First up is the Chicken Waffle, an ode to the Southern soul food dish with its waffle base, deep fried chicken patty and crispy bacon strip on top. It also comes with your choice of sauce: Southern sausage gravy or three-cheese and ranch. Next up is the King Kong, an East-meets-West hybrid. This is dressed with a succulent beef patty, a thick slice of spam, provolone cheese, and bok choy, and is seasoned with Hong Kong’s iconic Cantonese XO mayo sauce – a spicy seafood sauce and longtime favorite among locals. Last but not least, the Kung Fu Fish taco is a delicately pan-seared white fish nestled in a flour tortilla that’s accompanied with fresh avocado and orange slices. The tacos are topped with an in-house curry sesame dressing and a sprig of cilantro.
For sides, the beetroot fries stand out as a refreshing alternative to the classic french fry. Deep ruby red beets are cut into thick slices and are lightly deep fried to achieve their crispy outside, soft inside texture. The beet fries are accompanied with Japanese Kewpie mayonnaise that’s topped with chili pepper-based Togarashi spice seasoning. For dessert we loved the Ice Cream Taco: a decadent creation of rich vanilla ice cream inside a handheld waffle cone, dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with nuts.
Taking cues from American food truck culture, the restaurant’s interior comes equipped with a life-sized automotive structure, metal tables, rustic wooden stools, chalk boards and bright neon signs. It’s a bright space full of energy that only reasserts Boomshack’s American spirit of delectable indulgence. If you’re in Hong Kong, be sure to stop by Boomshack for your dose of American fast food in Hong Kong’s vibrant Central district.
