Swatch has been making Swatch & Art models since 1983 as collectible watches inspired by pop culture, and has resulted in design contributions from artists, musicians and fashion designers. Collaborations see artists whose work adorns walls of museums around the world also on people’s wrists thanks to Swatch. This Swatch collection took a whole 25 years to amass and complete, and includes over 5,800 Swatch & Art models. The collection sold for $6 million USD on Tuesday to a European Institution, after over 30 bids with two other opponents at Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
