The maker of a popular parody tee is in hot water with one of the biggest fashion houses in the world. What About Yves and its founder Jeanine Hellier have found themselves on the receiving end of a lawsuit filed by Luxury Goods International, the company that owns Yves Saint Laurent’s trademarks, over a shirt they produced which read “Ain’t Laurent Without Yves.” The suit claims the shirt is in violation of trademark infringement, trademark dilution, false designation of origin, and unfair competition. The design, which was a jab at Hedi Slimane’s decision to drop the Yves from Saint Laurent when he took over in 2013, was carried by a number of high-profile retailers around the world including colette and Kitsune, and can still be purchased on the What About Yves website.
