For our latest edition of HYPEBEAST Essentials, we take a look at what young social media consultant and apprentice hat maker Mr Hat keeps to hand on a regular basis. Known to over 7,000 followers for his Instagram handle, his presence throughout the world of fashion media has become ever more prominent. With a clear understanding for aesthetic value and his favorability to aspects within it being made clear, the standard to which Mr Hat presents his craft casts the historically female-typical trade of millinery in a new, more contemporary light.
Rarely seen without wearing his namesake, Mr Hat shares two pieces he is currently carrying with him — a self-made green fedora that he has yet to finish as well as a rich red, paint-splattered hat from his friend’s brand Lucky Selectism. As is to be expected, a special handcrafted apron from Saint & Birchley is kept close along with the necessary accompaniment of trade essential paraphernalia — sharp fabric scissors, tape measure, thimble, a roll of black thread, a single length of navy petersham ribbon, a pink box to store his needles, and the inclusion of a brown suede belt that will soon become the banding to one of his upcoming projects.
Finally a pair of prescription glasses from Australian-based eyewear designer Bailey Nelson help Mr Hat see straight when cleaning up the pièce de résistance to all his outfits with a wooden hat brush. Be sure to check out Mr Hat on Instagram and keep an eye out for the next installment of HYPEBEAST Essentials.
