Swatch might not be the first name that comes to mind it comes to rare timepieces, which makes collector Paul Dunkel’s 5,800-piece assemblage all the more impressive. Dunkel has decided to auction off the conquests of his quarter-century-long quest to amass all things Swatch, with the reported value for the collection topping an impressive $1.3 million USD. Among the items are exclusive prototypes, limited and special edition Swatch watches from 1983 to 2007, and collected artwork relating to certain designs. The Dunkel superlot will go up for auction at the Sotheby’s Hong Kong Important Watches auction, taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on April 7.
