Last month, RM Auctions and Sotheby’s announced plans to consolidate their businesses through a strategic partnership. This past weekend, the duo hosted their inaugural event, held at Amelia Island, Florida. The highly successful auction sold a record $60 million USD worth of automobiles. The most notable sale was a beautiful dark green 1960 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Cabriolet, auctioned off for a record of $6.38 million USD for this model. The proceeds of the sale will go towards the consignor’s charity for the education of children. RM Sotheby’s, the event’s official auction, was just one of many during Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. However, it was the most notable, setting a record for Amelia Island in the process with earnings more than all the other participating auctioneers combined.
