Riding the wave as the mastermind behind the smash hit “Try Me,” Dej Loaf joins the legion of new Detroit artists giving international voice to an otherwise under-represented city. Here HYPETRAK tracks back to the Motor City with the artist – neé Deja Trimble – teaming up with photographer Jeremy Deputat to take us through her hometown. The visual journey is a unique balance of soundbite testimony and photography, with Dej leading a tour around the most impactful places in the D. Starting in her childhood room, we venture through to Southeastern High School, Collective Studios – where she recorded most of Sell Sole, and even the notorious White House nightclub. Check out some of the photos above, and head to HYPETRAK for the full feature.
