Vic Mensa and Others Participate in Laquan McDonald Protest

Last year in October 2014, a Chicago police officer shot and killed 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. He was shot 16 times. This past Tuesday, over a year later, the officer involved, Jason Van Dyke was finally charged with first degree murder. The police force was court ordered to release the dash-cam footage of the shooting which was inhumane and graphic, sparking protests all throughout Chicago. It should also be noted, the officer has had 18 citizen complaints during his tenure but has never been disciplined — eight complaints were about excessive force, two involving the misuse of a firearm. Chicago rapper Vic Mensa was one among the protesters and footage of him at the protest has no surfaced. You’ll see him amongst the people clashing with with police. You’ll find him chanting “We want justice for Laquan and we want justice for our people,” in one of the videos. Ty Dolla $ign was in town for promotion of his Free TC album and also took to the streets to support as well. Chicago activist Malcolm London was also on hand, but was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a police officer. This happening just moments after London was to Fox 32 News to proclaim he didn’t feel safe. Many are speculating he was set up and targeted.
