Nintendo Announces Its First Mobile Game
Sadly, there’s no Mario involved.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Nintendo would get into the mobile gaming business by linking up with producer DeNA to develop games for both smartphones and tablets. Now the storied Japanese gaming company has introduced its very first mobile game and, sadly, it’s Mario-free. Dubbed Miitomo (“tomo” means “friend” in Japanese), the free-to-play social networking title sees players creating their own “Mii” avatar before then answering a series of questions. Based on the answers to those questions, players will then be able to communicate with other Miis. “Ideal for players who are reluctant to reveal things about themselves or talk to others,” according to The Wall Street Journal, Miitomo is due out next spring and is intended to be the first of five smartphone games Nintendo has on tap between then and March of 2017.
